Rod, Ian & Baz go fishing for Martin's Memorial Trophy

Created by Rodney 10 months ago

On Thursday 6th July the 3 of us met up at Orchard Lakes for what is our 3rd fishing day to celebrate the life of Martin. The day was very warm & sunny & straight away Baz started catch 'SMALLish' fish, Ian & I thought , here he goes trophy hunting again! (only joking Baz). There wasn't much action in the morning, so at noon we stopped to have our usual lunch & chat about old times. We memorized about times at both Clawford & Cranford & what great weeks they were.

At 1pm it was back to the fishing & the common consensus was that Baz's spratt bashing was going to win the day AGAIN!!!! but low & behold mid afternoon I got my first bite of the day & I thought at least a small fish is better than no fish........but no it turned out to be a 19.5lb common carp, I'm not proud of the way it was landed, but it did win the day. The only other thing worth a mention was when I cast out I totally missed the lake as my bait ended up on the opposite bank.

That evening we all met up at the Crown Bransgore & had a most convivial evening with a toast to absent friends & all agreed we will meet up next year for the 4th anniversary. We all miss Martin's company & our fishing days are a great ways of remembering & talking about him.
